The following Administrative Order signed by Chief Judge William A. Mudge of the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois entered on March 31, 2022 allows lawyers, parties (including self-represented litigants), and witnesses to use a Portable Electronic Device inside a courtroom to check calendars or present case-related information. All other uses inside the courtrooms are prohibited absent further order by the presiding judge. All devices must remain in "silent" mode at all times in courtrooms.

This administrative order replaces Madison County Administrative Order 2009-C-4, which has been rescinded. View the full order in the link below, which provides further guidance on the use of Portable Electronic Devices in common areas, prohibited uses in common areas and courtrooms, other electronic devices, confiscation of equipment and ejection, and restrictions on Portable Electronic Devices.
